Yes, all Hartley Watches are water-resistant up to 5ATM, which means they can withstand depths of up to 50 meters. However, to maintain the longevity of the case and strap, we recommend minimizing exposure to water whenever possible.

All Hartley watch straps feature an interchangeable pin. It's very easy to swap them over once you get the hang of it. We have made a video explaining how to do it, click here to view it.

Adjusting the length of a steel bracelet can be a tricky process. We recommend that our customers take their watch to a local watch jeweler or authorized service center to have the bracelet adjusted professionally. This ensures that the adjustment is done correctly and maintains the integrity of the bracelet and watch.

Since the leather band isn't covered by our warranty, it's important to take great care of it from the moment you receive your Hartley Watch. Keep your band as dry as possible, wiping off any moisture immediately. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration. If you use a leather cleaner, follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging the band.

Watch Care

The battery in your quartz watch typically has an average lifespan of about 2-3 years. At Hartley Watches, we offer a special guarantee for our customers. We will replace the battery indefinitely, provided that the customer pays for shipping to and from our service centre.

It is often more cost-effective to have the battery replaced by a local watch jeweller, especially for those in rural areas or for convenience. However, some customers may prefer to take advantage of our lifetime battery replacement offer. If you would like to use this service, please send us an email to start the process.

Accordion panAvoid exposing it to shock or impact, as violent shocks can damage the appearance and cause premature wear to materials and components, potentially affecting the watch's performance. Additionally, prevent exposure to magnetic fields by keeping your watch away from strong sources such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, and magnets. Magnetic fields can magnetize the movement, causing your watch to run erratically fast or slow.

Remember to wind your mechanical watch regularly to keep it lubricated and running smoothly. Gently wind the crown until you feel resistance (around 20-30 turns clockwise), and stop to avoid overwinding, which can damage the movement. Lastly, have your watch serviced every 3-5 years by a professional watchmaker to ensure it remains in top condition for years to come. We can service your watch for you in our service centre. If your watch has been exposed to water, such as while washing your hands or in light rain, it should remain water-resistant if the crown is securely screwed or pushed in. However, if your watch is exposed to sea water or chlorinated water, it is crucial to immediately rinse it with fresh water and dry it with a microfiber cloth.

Sea water and chlorinated water can be more harmful and abrasive to watches than fresh water. Therefore, it is important to never submerge your watch in these conditions to prevent damage to your timepiece. In the scenario where you watch has been exposed to sea or chlorinated water be sure to rinse it with fresh water and dry it with a microfiber cloth.

Unfortunately at this stage we do not offer winder boxes for our mechanical watches, this is something we are working on at the moment.
